SECURITY EQUIPMENT /
TECHNOLOGY:
Closed Circuit Television (cctv): Video cameras are installed throughout the store in the sales area, stockroom and part of the parking garage. There are 1.5 terabyte digital video recording units recording all cameras. Key areas of observation by the cctv cameras include, points of sale (cash registers), Pharmacy storage area, beer / wine area, and entry / egress points.
Intrusion alarms: Alarm systems to detect unauthorized intrusion are installed in sensitive areas within the store. The store is typically occupied 24 hours per day as we re-stock the facility during overnight hours.
Shopping cart container system: Gatekeeper Technology to prevent the removal of shopping carts from the interior of the store is installed at each point of public egress in order to prevent the removal of shopping carts containing product.
Point of Sale Technology: Cash registers (including self-checkout lanes) are programmed to require the manual entry of a date of birth of all purchasers of alcoholic beverages scanned at the register. Cashiers are required, by policy, to request photographic identification from all purchasers of alcoholic beverages who appear to be less than 30 years of age. Self checkout lanes are supervised by a single Attendant (cashier) and stop recording sales when alcoholic beverages are scanned. They will not renew the checkout process until the Attendant enters a date of birth and authorizes the continuation of the transaction. In addition, the cash registers are programmed such that alcoholic beverages cannot be rung up outside of the hours authorized for sale.
