ANC Committees

 

ANC 6D has three standing committees:

 

a)     Development and Planning, which considers issues relating to economic development, neighborhood planning, transportation and parking, and zoning;

 

b)    Alcohol Beverage Control, which considers issues relating to liquor licenses

 

c)     Community Outreach, which considers grant applications from community organizations.

 

The Committees make recommendations on their issues to the Commission, which then considers and votes on the Committee’s recommendation.  The Committee recommendations themselves do not constitute ANC positions.

 

Each committee consists of seven members, one from each Single Member District, appointed by the commissioner representing that district.  Committee members’ terms shall end at the end of the term for which the appointing commissioner was elected.

 

Commissioners shall have the right to participate ex officio in committee meetings.

The Commission shall appoint each committee chair, but each committee can establish its own procedures.   Each committee shall take minutes of its proceedings to give to the Commission, and all approved recommendations shall be forwarded to the Commission by eight days prior to the next ANC business meeting. Committee recommendations require a majority of the membership present and voting.

 

Committee meetings are open to the public, and each committee shall, in its deliberations, hear from all constituents who wish to participate, regardless of race, sex, age, voting status, religion, economic status, or sexual orientation.
